Tilleke & Gibbins has been ranked “Tier 1” for both “Trademark Prosecution” and “Trademark Contentious” work in Thailand by Hong Kong-based legal publication Asia IP in its annual Trademark Survey. The survey, which is compiled through written submissions and research interviews with legal practitioners and clients, provides an overview of trademark practice across 16 jurisdictions in the Asia Pacific region. Tilleke & Gibbins also placed in the top tier in Vietnam.
In addition to these top rankings, Asia IP reported on the latest developments in the Thai trademark scene. Citing information provided by Darani Vachanavuttivong, co-managing partner and managing director of the IP group at Tilleke & Gibbins, the editorial discusses Thailand’s progress toward amending its Trademark Act to fulfil the requirements of the Madrid system. Darani also stresses the need to introduce a specific unfair competition or passing off law in Thailand to help support brand owners.
