Alan Adcock Quoted by Asian Legal Business on Cannabis Liberalization in Thailand

Asian Legal Business

Alan Adcock, partner and deputy director of Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property practice, shared his expertise on Thailand’s ongoing cannabis liberalization efforts in the October 2019 issue of Asian Legal Business.

The article is built around Alan’s insights, gleaned from his deep and up-to-date knowledge of the burgeoning cannabis industry and regulatory regime in Thailand. In the article he discusses the significance of the law legalizing cannabis for medical use and research, the opportunities it presents for businesses in the cannabis industry, and the current and expected legal environment surrounding cannabis-related activities. In explaining how entrepreneurs and cannabis companies can get involved in Thailand’s cannabis industry, he also notes that liberalization of cannabis for medical use is expected to take hold elsewhere in Asia, and one way companies can act on this is by establishing operations in Thailand as a base for further expansion. Finally, Alan outlines that legal professionals are also playing an important role by staying on top of developments for their clients and advising on pathways forward in this tightly regulated, newly opening market.
