Alan Adcock and Thomas J. Treutler to Speak at Managing IP Beijing Forum

Managing Intellectual Property

China’s relentless growth in high-tech, knowledge-intensive industries has led to the country becoming the world’s fourth biggest Patent Cooperation Treaty filer, with filings increasing by 56.2 percent from 2009 to 2010. In order for Chinese companies to continue expanding, it is crucial for them to understand IP systems in other jurisdictions, keep up with the latest developments abroad, and develop proactive strategies for protecting their IP.

The second annual China-International IP Forum, organized by Managing Intellectual Property magazine, will provide a unique opportunity for Chinese IP owners to hear from their international peers, understand IP systems in other jurisdictions, find out about the latest regulatory issues, and discuss IP strategies when building their portfolio overseas. The forum will be held in Beijing on June 21-22, 2011.

The first day of the event will feature a Southeast Asia session led by Tilleke & Gibbins partners Alan Adcock and Thomas J. Treutler. Alan and Thomas will discuss developments relating to the ASEAN Free Trade Area, with a focus on cross-border investigation, enforcement, and penalties. The session will also explore technology acquisitions involving Asian buyers and Western sellers.
