On March 26, 2018, Aaron Le Marquer, a partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ dispute resolution group and head of the firm’s insurance practice, will speak at the Malaysian Insurance Institute’s 2018 International Claims Convention in Kuala Lumpur. His presentation, entitled “Reinsurance Claims Handling – Lessons Learnt from the Thai Floods” will cover a number of substantive issues relating to claims control, conflicts of laws, dispute resolution, and aggregation of claims, and is intended to give attendees a good understanding of issues of general application to insurance and reinsurance professionals working in claims and underwriting, based on case studies and experience from the 2010 and 2011 Thailand floods.

The Malaysian Insurance Institute is the leading professional body and education institution for the Malaysian insurance industry, providing internationally recognised education programmes and training courses for professionals in the insurance and financial services industries. Their two-day annual convention is this year themed around the topic “Claims in a Changing World” and will look at the changing environment that brings unpredictable challenges to the insurance industry in managing claims domestically (in Malaysia), regionally, and internationally.

The convention will be held on March 26 and 27 at the Sime Darby International Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur. For more information, please visit the MII website.
