The latest edition of Getting the Deal Through – Arbitration, a multijurisdictional guide to arbitration law, has been published by Law Business Research, with this year’s publication covering 49 jurisdictions worldwide. Kornkieat Chunhakasikarn and John King, attorney-at-law and partner respectively in Tilleke & Gibbins’ dispute resolution group, have coauthored the Thailand chapter to this guide.

It was first introduced in tandem with the value-added tax (VAT) regime in 1992. The method for collecting SBT can be likened to that of sales tax, which was used in Thailand in the previous incarnation of indirect tax collection, before VAT.
