Nandana Indananda Speaks on Tackling IP Infringement in Commercial Marketplaces

The United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Global Intellectual Property Academy, and the ASEAN Secretariat

Nandana Indananda, a partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property group and a former judge of the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court, made a presentation on the topic “Legislative and Regulatory Approaches to Tackling Commercial Marketplaces,” on November 18, 2013, at the ASEAN-USPTO Advanced Workshop on Effective Enforcement Against Notorious Markets. The subjects he discussed included the following:

  • Problems and effectiveness of IP enforcement in Thailand under the current approach
  • Legal measures against operators of marketplaces—secondary liability
  • Support for and objections to the new legislation on landlord liability
  • Recommended provisions on landlord liability for Thailand

The workshop was funded by the U.S. Department of State INL Program. It was hosted at the Aetas Lumpini Hotel.
