The Malaysian Chapter of the International Society for Labour and Social Security Law will host its first two-day conference on “Current Developments in Employment Law in Malaysia and the ASEAN Countries.” During the conference, a panel of speakers will discuss termination of employment, minimum wage, common workplace issues, cross-border labor mobility, trade unions, and a range of other topics from a regional perspective.
Chusert Supasitthumrong, a partner in Tilleke & Gibbins’ Bangkok office, will participate as a speaker in the discussion on “Termination of Employment: Current Developments and a Look at Regional Approaches.” In particular, he will cover termination with and without cause; termination based on loss, redundancy, or business reorganization; and termination issues that relate to expat employees including tax, compensation, conflicts of laws, court jurisdiction, and arbitration clauses.
The conference will take place at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching, Malaysia, from January 13 to 15. Registration and a welcome reception will be held on January 13. Chusert’s panel discussion will take place on January 14 from 12 noon to 1.30 p.m. If you would like to learn more about this event, please visit the MSLSSL website.
