- Assisting with the Myanmar and Thailand elements of their USD 5.6 billion global acquisition of another major player in the insurance industry. In advance of the transaction, we advised the client on antitrust/anti-competition law, pre-merger notifications, entire business transfers, employment issues related to acquisitions, data privacy matters, and all related corporate and regulatory matters.
- Advising on market entry and the establishment of operations in Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam, by means of joint acquisitions, ventures, and business partnerships.
- Assisting with the launch of innovative insurtech products by providing comprehensive overviews of the local regulatory frameworks surrounding the insurance markets of mainland Southeast Asia.
- Representing the client in defending itself against allegations made by one of its policyholders which had suffered a fire at its premises and made a claim under its insurance policy for property damages and business interruption losses.
- Providing regular corporate secretarial services for the client’s operations in Myanmar and Thailand.
- Advising on the insurance broking revenue framework and restructuring of their national operation practices and business model under Thai law.
- Advising on the client’s cross-border business model relating to Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand and assisted with setting up the client’s business in Thailand.
- Assisting with various real estate matters related to the physical business expansion of the client’s headquarters in Thailand.
