Kenan Institute Asia

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) contribute significantly to economic growth in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) region. In order to preserve this momentum, it is vital for the innovation spurring on these companies to be protected and promoted. To comment on this and more, Suebsiri Taweepon, an attorney-at-law in Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property group, will speak at a seminar hosted by the Kenan Institute Asia titled the “Promoting APEC SME Innovation through Smart IPR Policy Seminar.” Suebsiri’s talk will focus on the topic “Regional Integration: IP in AEC – A Model for APEC?” and will discuss the following main points:

  • IP-related obstacles for the ASEAN Economic Community
  • ASEAN’s strategic goals for IP
  • IP protection in ASEAN
  • IP concerns with the AEC
  • Trademark watch services
  • How IP owners can prepare for the AEC

The Kenan Institute Asia is a nonprofit organization based in Thailand that provides sustainable development services. The seminar will take place over two days, from September 17 to 18, at the Sofitel Sukhumvit in Bangkok. Suebsiri will speak on September 18 at 11 a.m. If you would like to learn more about this event, please visit the Kenan Institute Asia website.
