The 2019 edition of IFLR 1000 was released on November 2, recognizing to the world’s leading financial industry practitioners, including a handful of Tilleke & Gibbins’ lawyers through Southeast Asia.

In Thailand, Piyanuj (Lui) Ratprasatporn, partner and director of the firm’s corporate and commercial group, retained her “Highly Regarded” ranking for M&A work. Santhapat Periera, a partner in the firm’s corporate and commercial group, also based in Bangkok, retained his “Highly Regarded” ranking for banking and M&A work, as well as his general commercial work in the banking and energy industries, in Laos.

Tilleke & Gibbins’ Lawyers Join Future Energy Asia Exhibition and Summit 2022

Following the success of the Future Energy Asia Exhibition and Summit event preview held at the firm’s Bangkok Office on June 16, Tilleke & Gibbins participated in the official three-day forum at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre on July 20-22, 2022 Under the theme “Decarbonizing ASEAN’s Energy Transition and Transformation,” Joseph Tomkiewicz, partner and chair of the firm’s regional energy industry team (and member of the conference committee), moderated a strategic panel discussion titled “Global Leaders Panel: Decarbonisation & GHG Commitment – Gas and LNG as Cleaner Fuels to Bridge ASEAN’s Energy Transition.” Together with distinguished speakers, Joseph led the session through noteworthy strategies and initiatives toward significant transformation of the industry. On the last day, Sher Hann Chua, a consultant in the firm’s intellectual property group, delivered a presentation titled “Harnessing the Power of Your Intellectual Property in Energy Industry Joint Ventures.” Tilleke & Gibbins also welcomed thousands of energy professionals to the firm’s booth over the course of three days to exchange potential ideas for future collaboration and business opportunities in the electric vehicle, LNG, renewables, and power sectors in ASEAN.

Tilleke & Gibbins Hosts Future Energy Asia 2022 Event Preview

On June 16, 2022, Tilleke & Gibbins opened its Bangkok office for a press conference, executive meeting, and preview event for the upcoming Future Energy Asia & Future Mobility Asia Exhibition and Summit 2022. The event comprised three sessions—a media Q&A session, an executive committee meeting, and a networking cocktail reception and tour of the firm’s Museum of Counterfeit Goods. In the executive committee meeting, Joseph Tomkiewicz, partner and chair of the firm’s regional energy industry team (and member of the conference committee), was joined by high-profile representatives in the industry. Together they shared insights and discussed the future direction of the energy sector in Asia. The event concluded with a networking session and a tour of the firm’s well-known Museum of Counterfeit Goods. The opportunity to connect with other key players in the energy sector attracted top-level guests from leading organizations in Thailand and Southeast Asia, including the Ministry of Energy as well as BCPG, Bangkok Industrial Gas Company Limited, Energy Absolute, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, and Schneider Electric. Michael Ramirez to Speak on Thailand’s Legal Outlook

Michael Ramirez, a counsel in Tilleke & Gibbins’ dispute resolution group in Bangkok, will provide the Thailand legal outlook at a Thailand Regional Forum meeting to be held at Sasin School of Management on June 9, 2022. The event will be a special relaunch meeting of the Thailand Regional Forum, an initiative established by Dataconsult some 35 years ago. After a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, the forum is restarting with Sasin School of Management as its new home. The Thailand Regional Forum at Sasin plans to hold regular meetings from July onward. The meeting will consist of forecasting panel presentations and roundtable discussions. In addition to Michael’s presentation of the legal outlook for Thailand, other speakers will offer insights into Thailand’s political, risk, economic, and human resources outlook in the coming year. Following the presentations, the speakers and attendees will participate in a roundtable discussions and Q&A to address any questions that came up during the session and to consider various potential scenarios.
