Dino Santaniello, a consultant at Tilleke & Gibbins’ Laos office, was invited to speak on the topic of “Administrative Action/Raid Action: Fighting Counterfeit Goods in Laos” at a World Intellectual Property Day event hosted by the Lao Department of Intellectual Property on April 26 at the Lao-ITECC Exhibition Center in Vientiane.
Joining the event were Dr. Khanlasy Keobounphanh, director general of the Lao Department of Intellectual Property; Khamnhong Sichanthavong, deputy director-general of the Lao Department of Technology and Innovation; and Alejandro Roca Campana, senior director of the Access to Information and Knowledge Division, World Intellectual Property Organization.
Dino provided a highly informative presentation on Tilleke & Gibbins’ distinguished history in the region, the firm’s strong corporate and commercial and intellectual property practices in Laos, the effectiveness of raid actions in IP enforcement, case studies involving raid actions, and the Lao regulatory framework which supports this type of IP enforcement.
World IP Day is an annual event that was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization to raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks, and designs impact daily life and to celebrate creativity and contributions made by creators and innovators. This is the third year that Tilleke & Gibbins has been invited to speak at the event.
