Varisara Chaiwattanachai is an associate in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial department in Bangkok. Her expertise covers all insurance-related matters, including policy wordings, insurance coverage, regulatory compliance, reinsurance, and claims.

Varisara also supports her clients by sharing legal and regulatory expertise on various other areas relevant to insurance business practices, such as electronic transactions, digital platform services, and anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT). She further advises on corporate and commercial matters, including commercial contracts and M&A-related insurance transactions.

Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Varisara worked at the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), Thailand’s insurance regulatory authority, where she broadened her expertise in insurance regulations, with a focus on market entry and insurance solicitation. She also spent several years at a boutique law firm in Bangkok specializing in insurance and shipping law, where she provided legal advice, handled claims, and worked on litigation matters, particularly related to marine, air, and inland cargo policies.

Varisara holds an LLB from Thammasat University, an LLM in Maritime Law from the University of Nottingham, and an LLM in Corporate and Financial Law from the University of Glasgow. She also holds a lawyer’s license from the Lawyers Council of Thailand and is a barrister-at-law certified by the Thai Bar Association.
