Waraprush Ruttanakumnuad is an associate in the intellectual property department at Tilleke & Gibbins in Bangkok. She advises domestic and international clients on a wide range of intellectual property matters across various industries.
Waraprush regularly assists with prelitigation issues—including appeals, oppositions, counterstatements, and cancellations—helping clients resolve disputes efficiently while minimizing legal risk. Her solid understanding of the Thai IP framework, combined with a practical and detail-oriented approach, allows her to provide clear, strategic guidance tailored to each client’s objectives. Waraprush is committed to helping clients protect and enforce their IP rights in Thailand and throughout Southeast Asia.
Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Waraprush worked for an intellectual property consultancy in Thailand. She holds an LLB from Khon Kaen University.
- Provided detailed advice and assistance to a Chinese client in preparing evidence to strengthen their opposition, successfully preventing the registration of a trademark.
- Reviewed a draft opposition and identified a key missing piece of evidence that could significantly impact the case, working with the author to revise the document, resulting in a successful trademark registration opposition.
- Facilitated successful registration of a trademark in Thailand by communicating with Thailand’s trademark registrar to demonstrate that the client’s trademark specification was in line with WIPO guidelines and that the listed goods appeared on the DIP’s official website.
- Assisted a Myanmar client whose trademark registration in Thailand was initially rejected due to the notarization of the power of attorney conflicting with Thai law, resolving the issue and successfully securing the trademark registration by liaising between the client and the trademark registrar.
- Advised Thai clients on the importance of copyrights, helping them gain a better understanding of the concept, which ultimately led to their decision to file for copyright registration.
