Biography

Teo Pastor is an associate in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial practice at the firm’s Cambodia office. He has broad experience in various transactional practice areas, such as capital markets, corporate finance, banking & finance, and corporate/M&A. Teo works with international, regional, and local clients active in Southeast Asia to help them navigate regulatory complexity in Cambodia and the region—particularly surrounding financial services and regulatory corporate matters. The majority of Teo’s clients are in the financial industry and fintech sector, including some of the world’s largest banks.

Before joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Teo worked for two years at a major international law firm in Sao Paulo, Brazil, prior to which he worked as a trainee lawyer at a leading Brazilian law firm’s China desk.

Teo is dual-qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and as a lawyer in Brazil. He received an LLB from the University of Brasilia and an LLM in Chinese Law from Tsinghua University under a full Chinese-government scholarship. He speaks English and Portuguese fluently and is conversant in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

  • Assisted a Cambodian water company with review of a loan agreement with a Singapore lender involving various aspects of Cambodian corporate, banking, and tax laws.
  • Assisted a Singapore-based investment fund by conducting due diligence, drafting transactional agreements, and providing a legal opinion on an equity and debt investment in a Cambodian food distribution company.
  • Assisted an aviation fuel services company with drafting an engineering, procurement, commissioning and construction (EPCC) contract.
  • Advised a Singapore-based investment fund on the drafting of a convertible loan agreement for a Cambodian microfinance institution.
  • Advised one of Cambodia’s largest financial institutions with various transactions, including vendor agreements for their online marketplace, escrow agreements, and bill payment distribution agreements.
