Biography

Sarisa Teekatrakul is an associate in the intellectual property group of Tilleke & Gibbins’ Bangkok office. Sarisa provides local and international clients with actionable legal advice on all aspects of intellectual property protection, including negotiation strategies, IP litigation, and noncontentious IP matters. Whether helping overseas clients successfully navigate trademark registration in Thailand or coordinating with local authorities to seize stockpiles of counterfeit goods, Sarisa consistently acts in the best interest of her clients to help them secure and defend their valuable IP rights in Thailand.

Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Sarisa was an LLB student at Chulalongkorn University, during which she and her team won the national round of an international humanitarian law competition and represented Thailand at the global round in France. Sarisa is fluent in Thai and English.


Experience
  • Assisted clients by suggesting amendments to the goods list and other elements of their trademark applications to ensure they receive maximum protection under Thai law.
  • Acted for a multinational brand in enforcing its IP rights against a trademark infringer by drafting cease-and-desist letters, researching potential legal strategies, and cooperating with authorities to seize infringing goods.
  • Conducted trademark searches to assess uniqueness of clients’ marks and determine probability of successful registration, and suggested changes to increase the chances of securing registration.
  • Helped a company secure its trademark by filing an appeal to a rejection from the Department of Intellectual Property and a further complaint with Thailand’s Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court.
