Biography

Nitikar Nith is an associate in Tilleke & Gibbins' Cambodia office, practicing in the corporate and commercial group. She assists local and international clients with all aspects of doing business in Cambodia, with a particular focus on market entry, corporate setup, and the ongoing regulatory requirements of businesses operating in the jurisdiction. She has extensive experience in corporate affairs and licensing, commercial transactions, commercial contracts, banking and finance, energy and infrastructure, employment, immigration and real estate.

Nitikar holds a masters degree in Commercial Law and Taxation from the University of Paris 8 Vincennes in Saint-Denis, supplementing her undergraduate law degree from the Royal University of Law and Economics in Phnom Penh, jointly issued by the University of Lumiere Lyon II. She sits on the Board of Directors for the French Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (2022-2024), and is an executive board member and senior researcher for the Sala Traju Association, which promotes legal education amongst the Cambodian public. She is fluent in Khmer, English, and French.


Experience
  • Represented a client on the provision of a USD 500,000 convertible loan to a Cambodian water authority. Work involved extensive investigations into the holding company and four subsidiary water companies, reviewing and providing extensive input on the loan agreement, and advising on the successful completion of the loan.
  • Advised a European international development agency on the legal framework applicable to rooftop solar in Cambodia and possible structure for investment into solar plants in the country, including representing the client in several discussions with the Electricity Authority of Cambodia.
  • Advised a client on its acquisition of a leading pharmaceutical and healthcare product distribution company in Cambodia.
  • Engaged by an investment fund to advise on and carry out all work related to Cambodian law aspects of its complex acquisition of a school.
  • Advises numerous major international clients on corporate secretarial matters, related to their business in Cambodia, on an ongoing basis.
  • Advised a major international manufacturing industry leader on various aspects of their entry into the Cambodian market.
  • Advised a client on the localization of their work rules, policies, and terms of employment for the Cambodian market.
