Biography
Wattanakit Thanarattananukul is an associate in the intellectual property practice at Tilleke & Gibbins’ Bangkok office, specializing in litigation. With over eight years of experience in commercial and intellectual property dispute resolution, Wattanakit is a strong litigator with a proven ability to succeed in both civil and criminal matters relating to the protection of commercial assets.
Wattanakit graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law from Thammasat University. He is a member of the Lawyers Council of Thailand and the Thai Bar Association.
Experience
- Represented a telecommunications company and its directors who allegedly distributed karaoke musical works through its telecom services in violation of a copyright owner's rights. The court ordered to dismiss the case on preliminary examination.
- Represented a Japanese copyright and trademark owner in gathering evidence by purchasing samples of counterfeit goods, filing a claim with an inquiry officer at the Economic Crime Suppression Division, and arranging for a raid at the place selling counterfeit goods.
- Acted against a bank in several consumer actions, including cased for breach of fiduciary duties and duty of care, after 179 checks with forged signatures were presented for collection, causing total damage of over THB 104,000,000.
- Represented a major foreign shareholder of a company in its claims against new management, including civil suits for director misconduct, revocation of unlawful resolutions passed by the shareholders’ meeting, reclaiming unduly transferred shares, and criminal suits for presenting a false statement to public officials, falsifying corporate documents, trespassing, fraud, and misappropriation of assets.
