Safina Meida Baqo is an IP consultant based in Jakarta with Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property group. Safina is predominantly responsible for matters related to trademarks. Acting on behalf of some of the world’s most prominent brand owners, she advises clients on the full process of registering trademarks with Indonesia’s Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights. In addition to her trademark work, she possesses experience in protecting other areas of intellectual property, such as patents and industrial designs.
Safina also has experience advising clients on various forms of regulatory compliance, as well as franchising issues.
Safina graduated from the University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Law (LLB).
- Prepared and filed trademark applications, and collaborated with officials at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights in Indonesia to ensure a successful registration process for brand owners in a wide range of industries.
- Conducted availability and registrability trademark searches and advised on preliminary assessment of clients’ proposed marks.
- Worked closely with clients to implement effective strategies for trademark portfolio management.
- Conducted trademark watch services on registered and/or published marks at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights in Indonesia with regard to the possibility of trademark infringement of the client’s trademark and/or service mark.
- Represented clients in maintaining their trademark portfolios through recordal of renewal, changes/assignments of trademarks and service marks, and other related actions.
