Huyen Thi Thu Bui is a patent executive in Tilleke & Gibbins’ Hanoi office with a background in agriculture and agronomy. As part of the patent team’s biotechnology and chemical division, Huyen assists the world’s top life sciences companies with patent prosecution in Vietnam by preparing application dossiers, translating specifications, and interacting with examiners to secure protection for her clients’ valuable inventions.

Before shifting to patent law, Huyen worked for more than decade as a researcher at the Plant Resources Centre of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, earning a master’s degree and doctorate in genetics and plant breeding along the way. Her unconventional path to an intellectual property law career gives her a depth of experience that is invaluable to her clients in the life sciences sector.
