Thanh Phuong Vu is a counsel and heads Tilleke & Gibbins' patent team in Vietnam. Based in the Hanoi office, Thanh is a licensed lawyer and qualified IP agent with a strong cross-disciplinary background in the life sciences and IP law. She has extensive experience in filing, prosecution, and post-registration matters for patents and industrial designs in Vietnam in a wide range of areas, including the pharmaceutical, computer, and automotive sectors. Her in-depth expertise in protection of industrial designs includes both national applications and Hague system applications designating Vietnam. Her professional interests extend to laws and regulations in patent and design registration.

Thanh earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology with high marks from the Hanoi University of Technology and received a scholarship to the National University of Singapore, where she obtained a Master of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. She subsequently earned a law degree from the Hanoi Law University. Before pursuing a law career, Thanh gained direct experience in the life sciences from working as a researcher in pharmaceutical and biotech laboratories. Thanh is a member of APAA, ASEAN IPA, and VIPA.
