Biography

Thatporn Vanajak is an associate in Tilleke & Gibbins’ dispute resolution department in Bangkok. She provides a wide range of legal services related to civil and criminal disputes, including all stages of litigation, prelitigation, litigation, and postlitigation.

Thatporn's experience also includes cases involving contractual disputes, money laundering, business rehabilitation, construction, IT- and software-related disputes, directors’ liability, employment, torts, fraud, embezzlement, white-collar crime, arbitration, political disputes, and various other matters for high-profile individuals and domestic and international companies.

Thatporn has particular experience assisting clients in the aviation and construction industries with business rehabilitation proceedings in Thailand, such as by representing creditors to seek debt repayments. She is also a regular speaker providing training for clients and university students in relation to discrimination, bullying, employment law, and business rehabilitation.

Thatporn graduated with an LLB from Chulalongkorn University, is a member of the Thai Bar Association and the Lawyers Council of Thailand, and is a licensed notarial services attorney. She has also completed the constitutional and administrative law training program organized by Tilleke & Gibbins and led by esteemed academics, former judges, and other accomplished legal practitioners in Thailand.


Experience
  • Successfully advised and represented various multinational companies as creditors seeking debt repayment from debtors in business rehabilitation in Thailand.
  • Represented clients in a construction dispute before the Thai Arbitration Institute and in court.
  • Advised and represented a client in objecting to a request to set aside an arbitration award and seeking a court order to enforce the arbitration award.
  • Acted as part of a team defending a high-profile case in the Supreme Court Criminal Case Division for Persons Holding Political Positions and secured a historical-best outcome.
  • Acted as part of a team preparing a successful money laundering case at the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases.
  • Represented an employer in mediation to resolve an unfair termination lawsuit filed by a former employee. Our successful negotiation of the matter persuaded the opposing party to settle the lawsuit on mutually favorable terms.
  • Assisted foreign clients in cooperating with the Royal Thai Police and several other Thai officials in complex criminal cases, with consistently successful results.
