Biography
Huyen Thi Nguyen is a patent executive based in Tilleke & Gibbins’ Hanoi office. Huyen has a degree in law and has been working in the IP field since 2008. Over the course of her career she has handled all aspects of patent and trademark prosecution and enforcement in Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos.
Huyen's current practice focuses primarily on mechanical and electronic patents. She is particularly skilled in translation of patent specifications, having studied technical and scientific English at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology’s School of Foreign Language for her first degree.
Experience
- Managed more than 500 patent cases filed in Vietnam in fields including mechanical, electronics, telecommunications, and human necessities.
- Filed and successfully registered patent applications with the IP Office of Vietnam for well-known clients in multiple industry sectors.
- Translated many patent specifications from English into Vietnamese, primarily in the mechanical, electronics, telecommunications, and human necessities fields.
- Advised clients on amending claims and specifications to meet the formality requirements of the Vietnamese patent regulations.
- Provided pre-filing advice on patentability, unity of invention, and unity of claim sets, as well as fees, timelines, and requirements.
