Biography

Phareeya Yongpanich is an associate in Tilleke & Gibbins’ corporate and commercial group in Bangkok, where she assists a wide range of local and multinational companies across a variety of sectors. Her expertise encompasses advising on assorted corporate and commercial matters, including commercial contracts, digital lending services, and technology-related issues.

Phareeya advises clients on company incorporation, structural changes, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). She contributes to the entire M&A process from initiation to closure, including company investigations, due diligence reports, and transactions beyond deal closing. She excels at delivering pragmatic and commercial advice on digital law, mobile lending, and e-commerce transactions, as well as comprehensive counseling on regulatory compliance, including data protection law and anti-money laundering regulations. Some of Phareeya’s collaborations with clients across sectors include working with lending services, power plants, and deep-sea ports. With a diverse industry background, she aims to promote clients’ interests by anticipating opportunities and mitigating potential risks.

Phareeya holds an LLM in Tax from Queen Mary University of London, an LLM in International Financial Law from King’s College London, and an LLB from Thammasat University. She is a qualified lawyer admitted to the Lawyers Council of Thailand and holds a barrister-at-law certificate from the Thai Bar Association.

  • Assisted a company in Southeast Asia’s mobile technology sector with their online lending platform operations through a mobile application by advising on a range of matters, including acquisition of a regulated loan license, personal data protection, know-your-customer (KYC) requirements, and payment services.
  • Played a pivotal role in assisting a Thailand-listed printing company in the successful acquisition of a USD 16.7 million printing business from one of the largest media groups in Thailand by engaging in al stages of the process from investigations to closure of the deal.
  • Provided assistance to a Thailand-listed company active in electricity and steam generation in a successful acquisition of the developer of a 30-megawatt rooftop solar power plant.
  • Advised a Thailand-based limited company on their mobile lending business and contributed to the process of application and acquisition of regulated loan licenses with the Bank of Thailand while playing a crucial role in liaising and coordinating multiparty work.
  • Provided legal support to a Thailand-based electricity generation and transmission company with their 45-megawatt wind farm power plant project valued at USD 32 million.
