Michelle Ray-Jones Discusses IP Commercialization in SME-Focused Article from INTA

Michelle Ray-Jones, a consultant in Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property practice, was quoted in a recent International Trademark Association (INTA) article on how SMEs can build up a valuable IP portfolio, and why some have difficulty registering and maintaining their IP.

The article appeared in the latest issue of INTA Daily News  and featured legal professionals from Southeast Asia, the U.S., and the U.K. sharing their insights on the topic. Drawing on her experience of IP law in Thailand, Cambodia, and across Southeast Asia, as well as her broader global experience, Michelle spoke specifically about the value of having a strong IP portfolio, which she explained is crucial for SMEs wanting to attract investment. Not only can properly registered IP help protect against the risk of facing legal action over IP disputes, but it also increases a company’s valuation, putting that business ahead of other startups and would-be competitors.

The article also offered a closer look at how a strong IP legal strategy benefits SMEs in the ASEAN region. To read the full article, please visit the INTA Daily News  website.
