Multilaw Enforcement of Foreign Judgments Guide 2020 – Thailand
Multilaw

As the exclusive Thailand member firm of Multilaw, a leading global network of independent law firms, Tilleke & Gibbins contributed the Thailand section to the organization’s Multilaw Enforcement of Foreign Judgments Guide, which details regimes for enforcing foreign judgments in 74 jurisdictions worldwide.

Michael Ramirez, counsel in the firm’s dispute resolution department, wrote the Thailand section, in which he explains that foreign court judgments are not enforceable in Thailand, but that the country has extensive rules for enforcing foreign arbitral awards. The Thailand information is divided into two parts: the first covering the availability of interim measures under the Thai Civil Procedure Code, and the second covering fundamental principles of enforcing foreign judgments in Thailand, drawing on provisions of the Thai Arbitration Act to outline such issues as procedures, time limits, oppositions, and debt recovery.

Full PDFs of both parts of the Thailand section are available on the Multilaw website.

Tilleke & Gibbins also contributed the Vietnam section to the Multilaw Enforcement of Foreign Judgments Guide.
