Michelle Ray-Jones, a consultant in Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property practice, was quoted by Asian Legal Business  in a recent article on gender equality in the legal profession.

The article, which appeared on the occasion of International Women’s Day, pointed out some of the gender equality work of various firms and lawyers in Asia. The author noted that while women continue to be under-represented in the legal profession—especially at the senior level—gender balance is more of a priority among law firms now than ever before. The article highlighted a few gender diversity initiatives in global law firms and pointed out that individual lawyers are also playing a big role in the quest for gender parity.

Michelle, who is part of the firm’s Bangkok office, explained that being open and straightforward about issues of gender equality is especially effective, both inside the firm and in other settings. She noted that being proactive, staying aware, and taking action are all important steps to take.

Tilleke & Gibbins maintains an ethos of inclusivity and equal opportunity for all, with female leadership and representation throughout our offices and a working culture that rewards performance equally regardless of gender or other individual characteristics.
