Tilleke & Gibbins’ Vietnam Trademark Practice Ranked in Top Tier by World Trademark Review
World Trademark Review

In the latest rankings released by the World Trademark Review 1000 – The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals, Tilleke & Gibbins’ Vietnam trademark practice has been placed in the “Gold” band—the highest rank which can be attained. According to the WTR 1000, only the best firms with long-established reputations and the most prestigious of clients are ranked in this band.

The ranking’s editorial describes our firm as retaining “one of the largest trademark practices [in Vietnam].” Commending Tilleke & Gibbins for the scope of its practice, the editorial says, “perhaps no other firm affords more comprehensive coverage of Southeast Asia; in the past year alone, Tilleke opened offices in Yangon, Vientiane, and Jakarta.” The editorial also notes one particular success enjoyed by Tilleke & Gibbins, saying, “the Vietnam team is especially strong in the pharmaceutical sector; among many successful actions last year was an unfair competition in trade dress case brought against a state-owned drug company on behalf of Leo Pharmaceuticals A/S, which resulted in the seizure and destruction of thousands of infringing products.”

In addition to the firm ranking, Thomas J. Treutler, partner and managing director of Tilleke & Gibbins’ Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offices, was recognized as a leading lawyer. The editorial describes Thomas as a “highly regarded all-rounder” and cites one client as having said he is “one of the best foreign attorneys in Vietnam.”

The rankings were determined through market research, interviews with lawyers and clients, and submissions made by firms.
