Biography

Panthita Samlee is an associate in the dispute resolution department in the Bangkok office of Tilleke & Gibbins. She provides assistance in a wide spectrum of legal services—including all stages of prelitigation and litigation—for both international and domestic clients in the areas of complex civil and criminal disputes, employment law, directors’ liability, business crimes, and fraud investigations. Panthita takes great care in understanding the exact needs and aims of each client so that she is able to provide the most apt legal guidance for each situation and help clients’ businesses achieve the optimal outcome.

Panthita graduated with an LLB from Chulalongkorn University, and she is a member of the Lawyers Council of Thailand and an extraordinary member of the Thai Bar Association.

  • Represented a multinational manufacturing company in a criminal investigation against a director for the loss of more than THB 500 million.
  • Represented a US company in a cross-border dispute arising out of fraudulent acts relating to medical supplies.
  • Represented corporate clients across a range of industries in various wrongful acts disputes.
  • Assisted clients in prelitigation stages of cases related to professional malpractice, fraud, and directors’ liability.

On November 29, 2005, the National Assembly of Vietnam passed, among others, two new laws: (1) the Law on Investment No. 59/2005/QH11; and (2) the Law on Enterprises No. 60/2005/QH11. Only seven months after the enactment of the new 2005 Commercial Law of Vietnam at the beginning of 2006, the Vietnamese Government has issued new regulations on foreign representative offices and branch offices in Vietnam under Government Decree No. 72/2006/ND-CP dated July 25, 2006. Compared with the regulation under the previous decree, this new decree seems to be a step backward in terms of the requirements for opening a foreign representative or branch office in Vietnam.
