Biography

Ei Darli is a consultant in Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property department in Yangon. With extensive knowledge and expertise in intellectual property law and practice in Myanmar, she provides comprehensive intellectual property advice and guidance to clients across a broad range of industries.

Ei Darli specializes in helping intellectual property owners secure protection for their rights in Myanmar. She advises clients on trademark-related matters, liaises with intellectual property authorities in the country, and drafts and reviews licensing and other related agreements. She works with multinational and local clients across industries to develop and implement effective intellectual property strategies that align with their business goals and objectives.

Prior to joining Tilleke & Gibbins, Ei Darli was an experienced officer in the Intellectual Property Department under Myanmar’s Ministry of Commerce, where she contributed to the drafting of Myanmar groundbreaking intellectual property laws and regulations. She was also deputy head of the intellectual property section at a local law firm in Myanmar, and assisted clients as an independent practitioner.

Ei Darli holds LLB and LLM degrees from Yadanabon University and has completed professional training courses organized by Myanmar’s Intellectual Property Department and various international bodies such as WIPO, the Japan Patent Office, the USPTO, and others.

  • Advised various global, regional, and local brand owners on trademark protection in Myanmar.
  • Assisted a leading manufacturer of consumer goods with translation of various legal documents from Myanmar to English and English to Myanmar.
  • Drafted contracts and agreements for various corporate matters involving companies and brand owners.
  • Assisted the Myanmar government with drafting a new suite of intellectual property laws and regulations to overhaul the country’s framework and practices allowing companies and individuals to protect their intellectual assets.
