Darani Vachanavuttivong to Present on Intellectual Property in Myanmar

Due to the country’s ongoing reforms, multinational corporations in a wide variety of industries are now focusing not on whether to invest in Myanmar, but rather when to do so. To set the groundwork for any such investment, Myanmar needs to establish clear laws for the protection and enforcement of intellectual property.

At a seminar in Bangkok on March 28, 2013, Darani Vachanavuttivong, Co-Managing Partner and Managing Director, Intellectual Property, at Tilleke & Gibbins, will present on IP issues in Myanmar and their impact on foreign investors. Given the current lack of IP laws in the country, Darani will examine the current practical realities for brand owners and look ahead to the expected passage of new IP laws in Myanmar later this year.

This presentation will lead off the seminar “Investing in Myanmar One Year On: Where Are We?” organized by IRVING Seminar and Training. In addition to IP issues, the seminar will examine the new investment law, investment risks, infrastructure, real estate, tax, and customs procedures. The event will be held at the Sofitel Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok.
