Tilleke & Gibbins Receives Global Recognition for Pro Bono Work

Tilleke & Gibbins has received a special recognition from the US-based Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice for the firm’s outstanding pro bono work for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The award was announced in a ceremony held at the New York City Bar Association on April 21.

For this work, Eric M. Meyer, a consultant in the firm’s dispute resolution group in Bangkok, led a regional team across Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand to advise UNEP in connection with its Global Environmental Report on the Rule of Law as part of its Environmental Rule of Law Initiative. Among other tasks, this matter involved researching the law in these jurisdictions to assess environmental rule of law trends in each jurisdiction, and compiling our findings in a report to UNEP for their assessment of global environmental rule of law developments.

The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice works with legal professionals across borders to advance global justice by supporting civil society and socially responsible legal practice. The center works with lawyers and firms around the world to support civil society organizations and international human rights bodies on a pro bono basis. It also engages law firms, bar associations, law schools, and pro bono clearinghouses to build strength and diversity in pro bono practice.
