EDUCATION

LLB, Thammasat University

Inthupim Chokwaranun is a litigator in Tilleke & Gibbins’ intellectual property department. She specializes in pursuing her clients’ trademark rights in appeals to the Board of Trademarks and the Intellectual Property and International Trade Court. Inthupim represents multinational companies in protecting brands connected to products ranging from coated abrasives to animal health products to vaccines to apparel. She also advises on trademark registration, copyrights, patents, and trade secret infringement.

An eloquent speaker and advocate, Inthupim regularly gives televised interviews on IP infringement and Tilleke & Gibbins' Museum of Counterfeit Goods. She is a member of the Thai Bar Association, Lawyers Council of Thailand, Intellectual Property Association of Thailand, Intellectual Property and Innovation Association, ASEAN Intellectual Property Association, and the Thammasat University Law Association.

  • Won a historic judgment for a global technology leader against former employees who misappropriated our client’s tremendously valuable trade secret technology. In the IP&IT Court decision, our client was awarded an injunction against use and disclosure of its trade secret technologies, including machines, processes, and information. Our client also received substantial damages and recovery of legal fees. This was the first case that a trade secret owner has successfully enforced against trade secret misappropriation in Thailand.

  • Proved a better right over a trademark for coated abrasives and abrasive machines and, thus, acquired the trademark from the coated abrasives wholesaler in Thailand. As a result, our client was able to register and use its trademark in Thailand, as per its business plan.

  • Acquired the mark of a global animal health company from an individual after the mark had been registered for 13 years in Thailand.  We negotiated with the individual after filing a civil action and secured the mark from the individual for no compensation.

  • Secured a litigation victory for a multinational vaccine company. Due to our strong legal arguments and reliable evidence, the IP&IT Court determined that the goods identified by our client’s trademark were different from the goods connected to a registered mark.  The IP&IT Court ordered the Trademark Registrar to grant the registration of our client’s trademark.

  • Secured a victory for a leading apparel company in litigation to reverse an unfavorable decision by the Board of Trademarks. The IP&IT Court determined that our client’s mark was different from the registered mark and directed the Trademark Registrar to register our client’s trademark.
