Developed a suitable Vietnamese translation for WIPO’s standardized forms for presenting nucleotide and amino acid sequence listings in international patent applications. This was a critical breakthrough for pharmaceutical clients as patent agents and examiners alike could not translate standardized amino acid sequence listings into Vietnamese because the standardized forms do not support Vietnamese fonts.

Hien Thi Thu Vu is a patent executive in the firm’s Vietnam offices. With over a decade of industry experience as a medical representative with Hoffman-La Roche in Vietnam, Hien serves clients in every sector and specializes in the biological and pharmaceutical fields.
In a region where generic drugs are increasingly promoted and given market access, Hien advocates for the rights of healthcare companies that devoted extensive assets to R&D activities. As such, her practice encompasses more than the conventional responsibilities of patent searches, examinations, and registrations, Hien collaborates with clients to educate decision-makers on complex technical issues. She also facilitates the issuance of patents by drafting persuasive arguments to overcome refusals by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (NOIP.)
Hien is an Industrial Property Agent registered at the NOIP. She previously headed the patent unit at INVENCO in Hanoi.
